The red stick sentinels that stand watch over the CityLink gateway to Melbourne at Travencore are due for a burnish.
The landmarks, which stand along the route of the Moonee Ponds Creek Trail, are 25-years-old and looking faded.
Work is about to start on inspection, cleaning, repainting and other maintenance, but for CityLink operator Transurban to access them the trail will be intermittently impacted.
At times, a small section between Delhi Court and Brisbane Street will need to close for short periods during works to allow vehicles, equipment and work materials to enter the site. Otherwise the trail will remain open.
Works will start during October 2024, and take about six months. Completion is expected by March 2025. Most works will occur during the day.
Access to the path will be managed with portable boom gates.
Signage along the trail will notify riders of the activities and advise them to slow down on approach, stop when boom gates are down, or when directed by traffic management.
