Warby Trail vandalised
Popular Victorian bike track the Warburton Rail Trail was trashed earlier this month, resulting in thousands of dollars worth of damage.

While riding along the track on 1 May, a local Upper Yarra resident discovered several gateposts ripped out of the ground in different locations.

He noted that the size of the gateposts meant a powerful tool must have been used in their destruction.

The destroyed gateposts were found at Healesville Kooweerup Road, Woori Yallock, the east end of Woori Yallock Station and Sunnyside Road Seville East.

A Yarra Ranges Council Civic Centre spokesperson said the damage was significant.

"We're extremely disappointed that several fences have been damaged along the Warburton Trail recently," the spokesperson said. "Repairs are underway on the fences, and are expected to cost several thousand dollars."

It's been a rough month for the Warburton Rail Trail, with a suspicious fire being started at the base of Mount Little Joe on 13 April.

The council urges those with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
