Ballan to beckon bikes

Moorabool Shire will commission a feasibility study to assess how cycling infrastructure could boost visitor numbers, provide economic benefits and create opportunities for local businesses in the Ballan and surrounding districts.

The project will explore whether Ballan could become a strategic cycling tourism hub – linking key destinations like Daylesford, Ballarat, Creswick and Geelong, and drawing on remarkable natural assets including Werribee Gorge, the Brisbane Ranges and the Victorian Goldfields.

This project will also consider improving infrastructure and liveability in growing areas like Ballan, particularly through active transport options such as cycling.

The funding has come from the state government's Tiny Towns grant program.

Aspects to be studied include economic tourism and growth, activating local infrastructure and community spaces, wellness and sustainability and boosting opportunities for local businesses.
