The Peaks Challenge Ride2School fundraiser is back for 2026 and we need your help.
In the 1970s, 8 in 10 students rode or walked to school. Now, that number is just 2 in 10.
Bicycle Network's Ride2School program seeks to change this, instilling a lifelong love of riding, reducing congestion and creating safer, more active communities. Getting students riding to school also builds lifelong active habits – making it a proactive measure to prevent future health issues.
If you're taking part in Peaks Challenge 2026, we're asking you to fundraise to support more students riding to school.
We know you're putting in a monumental effort to complete Peaks Challenge and we'd love for you to pay it forward to meet the challenge of getting Australia's kids moving again.
The process is simple – just head to
https://ride2schoolfund.raiselysite.com/ to set up a fundraising campaign.
Click on 'sign up', choose to register as an individual or as a team, pop in your details as prompted and finalise your profile with a photo and bio.
Then it's all about engaging your community to boost donations. Reach out to friends, family, colleagues and local businesses and explain why Ride2School matters to you. Train and fundraise together (e.g., "$1 for every kilometre!"). Team up with mates also riding Peaks to boost your impact – or get competitive and climb that fundraiser leaderboard. We've put together some handy tips and templates for an effective fundraiser
here.
The money you raise will go directly to supporting Ride2School initiatives and get more kids travelling actively to school. Here are some of the amazing initiatives your efforts could help support:
- $1,500 could help develop an Active Travel Map at one school, showing students safe routes to ride.
- $3,500 could contribute towards a full day of bike education, giving students the skills and knowledge needed to ride safely.
- $7,000 could help develop a Ride2School commute program with ActiveMaps and Bike Buses so families can ride the routes together with confidence.
- $10,000 could contribute towards an Open Streets initiative, transforming a busy road outside a primary school's gates into safe, active space.
Not riding Peaks but still keen to support Ride2School? You can donate directly via the Ride2School Raisely page
here. As little as $50 could help a student participate in a skills and safety bike education session, or enter a custom amount. Every dollar counts, and donations are tax refundable over $2.
By fundraising for Ride2School, you're supporting healthier kids and brighter futures, helping to give every child the chance to learn safe riding skills they'll use for life, and getting kids to school safely and actively – thank you.
