Gardiners Creek Waterways Expo
Weekend riders on the Gardiners Creek Trail will have an opportunity to check out the Clean Waterways Expo next Saturday 29 November.

The event features the work of the KooyongKoot Alliance, the collective of councils, agencies and community group that is planning to restore and upgrade the creek environment in the coming years.

Waterways host many of Melbourne’s great bike trails and we know riders are keen to preserve and upgrade these natural corridors for future generations of riders, as well as the animals and plants essential to their healthy functioning.

The Clean Waterways Expo is the perfect opportunity to discover what makes the creek system so special, and how we can all play a part in keeping it healthy.

You’ll find plenty of inspiration and practical ideas to help make a positive difference.

There will be 12+ exhibitors in marquees, including the EPA, Melbourne Water, City of Boroondara, Snap Send Solve, Friends of Groups, Urban Guerrillas, Native Fish Australia, Yarra Riverkeeper Association, ACF, Waterwatch, local Scouts, Rotary and more.

You can attend a lineup of water-focused talks running from 10.15am to 2pm at the U3A conference centre, 29 Sinclair Avenue, Glen Iris.

The event is right on the trail near Burke Road.

Activities and tours:

  • wetlands and stormwater talk and tour with Melbourne Water
  • birdwatching walk, talk and survey with Callum Clarke (Urban Guerrillas)
  • waterwatch/waterbug workshop
  • guided flora walk with Neville Walsh (Royal Botanic Gardens & co-author of The Flora of Victoria)
