Social rides - Tasmania
The slow winter ride season continues but there are still a few rides close to Hobart and Westbury and Longford this edition. Note the north-west riders are not holding a ride in August but will back with all guns blazing in September.
Social rides stick close to Hobart
We’ve only got a handful of social rides to offer you this fortnight but they’re all great routes to get you moving, with three in and around Hobart and another three around Longford, Westbury and Cressy.
Social rides mix country and city
This fortnight of rides includes the big weekend away at Longford hosted by the north-west riders. Two days of riding out of Longford and Cressy is on the cards for anyone who wants to join in. And the usual city based rides are happening in and around Hobart.
Riding north to south with heritage touches
The newest addition to our self-guided Ambassador rides will take you from Launceston to Hobart through the middle of the island, with colonial-era sightseeing stop-overs along the way.
Cycle away the chilly days
Winter has well and truly arrived in Tasmania with shorter days and chillier weather, but that’s even more incentive to keep moving to stay fit and connected with others. Our rides in coming weeks will be sure to keep you warm, just remember your gloves and neck warmers!
Rolling through June
There’s no slowdown for our social rides this June, with plenty of options to keep you warm as we cool down for winter.
Exploring Hobart’s outskirts
Most of our social rides this fortnight explore areas outside of Hobart, taking advantage of quieter roads and paths. Please RSVP if you are interested in joining any of the rides this fortnight as our ride leaders will keep you updated if anything changes.
Social rides help others enjoy riding
Our social rides have a helping flavour this fortnight with the E-bike Coffee Club ride showing people how to get around Glenorchy, ride leader Brian and others helping Alice build confidence at Kangaroo Bay and the Open House Hobart ride getting a Back on your Bike session to get riders ready to roll.
Two rides on offer for Seniors Week
Hobart volunteers are offering two rides for Seniors Week this year, the popular e-bike ride as well as a slower, shorter option for the lower-tech set.
Thursday Twilights are back
Daylight Savings starting next month also means the return of TBUG’s Thursday Twilight rides around Launceston’s trails and paths. The 10km ride is an easy re-introduction to riding or just a handy introduction for people new to the city to find their way.
